The tram track between Starr-Gate and the Pleasure beach will be closed from the 7th of September until 2012. This is due to the tram track upgrade.
New Tram Depot plans submitted by Blackpool Council.
After the High Court in Manchester deemed the Starr Gate Tram Depot plans to be illegal, through a legal challenge by a Starr gate resident. Blackpool council have submitted new plans again, almost identical to the original ones with the extra required work done.- to be heard on the 11th January 2010
have given unanimous approval (11-01-2010) of the plans for the Tram Depot. However issues raised by the residents and the petitions and objections have resulted in the Government office for the North West considering whether there is sufficient grounds to refer the application to the Secretary of State. This could result in a public enquiry into the bully boy way the council have forced this huge development in a residential area. The residents at Starr-gate must make their voice heard and contact this office with their comments.
After legally challenging the first set of plans and getting a successful result the council simply re-submitted another almost identical set of plan, giving full approval. There are still legal channels available to the residents of Starr Gate and an update can be found here.
